At the start of each year, the Auto Trader group presents its awards for the best vehicles in each of the industry categories, which the organization counted at 23 in 2024. 

Once again, Subaru models stood out in their respective niches to be judged the best by Auto Trader's panel of some 20 experts.

This was particularly the case in the sub-compact SUV category, where the Crosstrek stood out from the competition. We know that this model has everything it takes to dominate its rivals, but let's hear from the experts why.

First, it's important to mention that all models in this category were considered, so the Crosstrek came out on top against all rivals. 

The Crosstrek was recognized as a well-balanced vehicle offering a refreshing and reassuring driving feel. With its generous ground clearance and excellent outward visibility, it's easy to drive, remains comfortable on rough roads, and can go anywhere in winter. We appreciated its practicality, as it is more spacious than many of its competitors.

The balance between comfort and handling was also impressive. 

Mechanically, the choice of two distinct powertrains, including the new 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that delivers 30 more horsepower than the base engine, adds a nice calling card and a nice touch for those who like their driving a little livelier. 

All Crosstreks come as standard with Subaru's constant-mesh all-wheel drive system, which is widely recognized as one of the best in the industry. The safety and practicality of adaptive LED headlights that adapt when cornering were also highlighted, which is very useful in the evening and at night. This comes as standard. 

In terms of safety, Subaru's EyeSight system, which offers a comprehensive list of features, was praised for its effectiveness. The addition of the new Emergency Steering Assist function as standard, which helps drivers to better control the vehicle in certain emergency situations, was applauded.

Another interesting quality? The price. We found the value for money across the range very attractive, especially with the Convenience and Touring versions.
